Description:
The EMT Skill Verification test meets the requirements for skills verification by the State of California. The skills verification test is designed for EMTs who already have their continuing education hours and who only need the state skills verification portion of their renewal. Learners will have an opportunity to review the required skills via BLE's online learning management system prior to their arrival.
Students also have the option to renew their BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR certification through American Safety & Health Institute.
If you need to complete the continuing education hours to renew your EMT Certification, you should attend the EMT Refresher Course.
It does NOT include the additional training for epinephrine, glucometry & naloxone required by the state of California.
E-Learning: Learners are expected to complete the BLS CPR online assignments prior to class if they require certification. All learners will have access to the skill verification skill sheets and other curriculum resources. Learners are highly encouraged to review them prior to their arrival to class. Technology requirements include:

- Internet Access
- PDF Reader
- Anti-Virus Software
- Internet Browser (latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge)

In-Person Learning: learners participate in 1 day of in-person testing.

- Hemorrhage Control & Shock Management
- Spinal Motion Restriction
- Penetrating Chest Injury
- Epinephrine & Naloxone Administration
- Childbirth & Neonatal Resuscitation
Duration: 4+ Hours In-Person
Minimum/Maximum # Participants: 1 minimum, 10 maximum
Pre-Requisites:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have a current EMT certification*.
* EMTs with certifications that have expired may recertify if the date of expiration was less than two years ago. Please visit the ICEMA EMT certification guidelines and the NREMT recertification guidelines for more information.
