Biography

Born and raised in Juneau, Alaska, Corey spent his youth as a student athlete competing in alpine ski racing, cross country running, and track and field.  He continued his passion for skiing in college where he raced his first two years for the Division 1 University of New Hampshire Ski Team while receiving a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.  After graduating he decided that seasonal work in the outdoors was better than a “real job.”  Since 2004 he has split his time ski patrolling at Mammoth Mountain (MMSP) in the winter and in Alaska during the summer guiding trips for Above and Beyond Alaska (ABAK) and instructing courses for the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS).  In each of these jobs Corey has taken an instructor role as the rookie and gondola evacuation trainer for MMSP, operations manager/lead guide and trainer for ABAK, and as a field instructor for NOLS.  The shoulder season of October provides him an excellent opportunity to visit family, travel overseas, and do personal expeditions.  In all of his pursuits, he brings an infectious enthusiasm for the outdoors and sharing his knowledge with others.
