Lindsay grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she learned to love cheese, trees, and lakes. She involved herself in a number of sports, including swim team, softball, and during her senior year, ski team. During her high school years, Lindsay discovered two lifelong passions – skiing and education. Though just barely introduced to the world of skiing, she knew immediately she wanted to live in the mountains someday. Lindsay discovered her love of education through coaching a junior golf league and spending her study halls tutoring an autistic student in geometry and biology.
Lindsay attended college at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. She spent 3 years in the School of Engineering, but for a girl who gets her inspiration from interacting with nature, the amount of time spent in computer labs was excruciating, and she became more focused on competing for her school’s waterski team than her classwork. Though she loves math, she ultimately realized that engineering was not her calling, so she switched majors and passionately invested herself in the studies of forestry and ecology, proudly earning her B.S. Environmental Sciences. Overall, Lindsay‘s 5 1/2 years at the University of Wisconsin helped her identify her true passions and deepened her love of nature and outdoor recreation.
Upon graduating from the University of Wisconsin in December of 2012, Lindsay moved to Mammoth Lakes, CA and began her career as a ski instructor. During ski season, Lindsay is one of the first at the mountain and last to leave every day, but during the rest of the year, enjoys backpacking and rock climbing. During the summer of 2014, Lindsay hiked 220 miles solo on the John Muir and Pacific Crest Trails. It was an awe-inspiring and life changing experience.
During spring 2014, Lindsay joined Beyond Limits Education primarily working with ski team kids in the Mammoth Sports Academy Program. Lindsay truly enjoys coming up with creative ways to present material, loves working in a school environment with kids who share her passions for skiing and the outdoors, and cherishes the connections she makes with her students and coworkers. She is inspired by Brigitte’s enthusiastic and interactive teaching style and is very excited to be a part of this growing program.
