Carrie joined Beyond Limits Education in spring 2014. She spent most of her childhood living in Bishop, CA and raced on the Mammoth ski team for five years. Carrie attended the University of Denver where she though that majoring in one subject was not enough. Carrie holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees (Anthropology and Ecology/Biodiversity) and minored in both French and Theatre. She not only completed her course work in four years, but earned honors distinction and cum laude ranking. One may think that Carrie did not have any spare time. However, despite her heavy course load she made time to tutor French for the DU’s hockey team, work as science class instructor for an after school elementary/middle school science enrichment program, and serve as the academic chairman for her sorority where she monitored the grades and general academic progress of 120 women as well as tutored several of them each semester. In addition, she created an academic mentorship program enlisting faculty members and organized study sessions to cover specific topics of need.
Her strong childhood ties to the local community brought Carrie back to the Eastern Sierra after college. She wishes to give back by helping students excel in their school work. She credits her teachers as a child for inspiring her, particularly the English teachers who taught her how to write well and the science teachers who sparked her passion to pursue biological science and anthropology at the collegiate level. It is her eventual dream to become a university professor and believes “there is nothing more rewarding than feeling that all the hard work you have put forth has paid off, and this is the feeling I hope to create for my students”.
